Drake Maye Hypes OT Will Campbell Following Backlash from Patriots' Super Bowl Loss to Seahawks

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye expressed faith Wednesday in offensive tackle Will Campbell's ability to bounce back from his struggles in February's Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

"I think Will, he's got a great mindset," Maye said around the 4:45 mark of his Wednesday media availability. "I think he understands the business and what this league is about... I think he's got a great attitude. He's working his butt off in there."

Maye added: "I think he's got a little extra motivation for himself to prove to us, and prove to himself, that he can be one of the best players in the league at his position."

Campbell, selected by the Patriots with the No. 4 pick of the 2025 draft, helped turn around what had been one of the NFL's weakest offensive lines when he stepped in to protect Maye's blindside last season.

He was ultimately unable to stop the pocket from collapsing around Maye with a title on the line.

Campbell allowed 14 quarterback pressures in the Super Bowl loss to the Seahawks, which marked the highest single-game total by any player in the 2025 regular season or playoffs, per Next Gen Stats cited by NFL.com's Grant Gordon.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said after that loss his team had no plans on moving Campbell from his position as starting left tackle. Campbell once more stepped into that spot during Wednesday's OTA practice.

The Patriots will also get some looks at Caleb Lomu as practices continue this offseason. Before he was selected by the Patriots with the No. 28 pick of the NFL draft, Lomu started at left tackle for Utah.

Vrabel said Wednesday that Lomu would spend the day at right tackle but could get some reps on the left, per ESPN's Mike Reiss.

Whether or not Campbell ultimately retains the starting left tackle spot, building a strong offensive line ahead of Maye's third NFL season will be key to the Patriots' hopes of making another run to the Super Bowl in 2027.
