Dom Mysterio Calls Out WWE Creative, Nikki Bella Injury Update & New Rumors on Je'Von Evans

Dominik Mysterio Voices Creative Frustrations

Former intercontinental champion and reigning AAA mega champion Dominik Mysterio gave his unfiltered thoughts Tuesday over his recent booking or lack thereof.

In an interview with Esse Magazine (h/t WrestlePurists), Dirty Dom suggested that he has been underutilized as of late.

"I don't think they know what to do with me. I'm too cool," Mysterio said. "They have lightning in a bottle and they have no idea what to do with it, so they're just letting it sit. I'm just waiting. I could have all the storylines, but like I said, they don't know what to do with me. I'm too good. I'm lightning in a bottle. They're holding me.

"I don't know [what WWE is waiting for]. Like I said, I've beaten John Cena. I've beaten AJ Styles. Beaten Rey Mysterio. Beaten Damian Priest. I don't know what they're waiting for. I'm 29 years old. Kid's young. You've got all these old fossils in there working. I don't know what they're waiting for. At the end of the day, I'm a patient man. I can wait. I've got The Judgment Day with me. AAA mega campeón. I'm not tripping. If they want to put me on Clash in Italy, I'll put my mega campeonato on the line. It don't even matter."

Over the course of two reigns, Dominik held the IC title for nearly 300 days from April 2025 until March 2026.

He dropped the championship to Penta just over a month before WrestleMania 42, which led directly into a rivalry with longtime Judgment Day stablemate Finn Balor.

At WrestleMania, Balor broke out his "Demon" character and defeated Mysterio in an entertaining street fight.

Since then, Dominik has only competed in one match, beating the original El Grande Americano in a AAA Mega Championship bout on the May 11 episode of Raw.

Coming out of WrestleMania, most of the focus with regard to The Judgment Day has been on Liv Morgan as women's world champion, as well as Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez going after tag team gold.

Over the past couple of years, Dominik has been one of WWE's top heels and most heavily featured Superstars on a weekly basis, so one can only assume it is a matter of time before he is back in an important spot.

Nikki Bella Provides Positive Injury Update

WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella has been out of action for the past two months, but she revealed this week that she is making progress in her recovery from an ankle injury.

In an interview with USA Today Sports (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), Nikki said her ankle is "doing great," and divulged that she recently started doing squats again and has been working on strengthening her ankle during physical therapy.

Additionally, Nikki noted that next month will be a major benchmark since she is scheduled to undergo X-rays on her ankle.

"I'll get X-rayed in the middle of June and see how the bones have grown," Bella said. "So fingers crossed I'll get amazing news, and then I've just got to match that with strength, and then I'll be back.

In terms of a timeline for her return to the ring, Nikki expressed hope that the end of June is a possibility, saying, "So in my head, the end of June would be incredible. But I also don't want to come back too early, because a big reason people get re-injured is that their strength doesn't match their recovery. So I need to make sure the calf, the quads, the glutes—all of it—is built up properly so it protects that ankle."

Nikki was originally supposed to team with her twin sister, Brie Bella, in a Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 42.

However, about one month before WrestleMania, Nikki injured her ankle and she did not receive clearance in time for the event.

As a result, Nikki was replaced by a returning Paige, who won the WWE women's tag team titles with Brie.

Paige and Brie have been on a roll, piling up several victories since WrestleMania, and there is plenty of intrigue surrounding how Nikki's eventual return will impact that dynamic.

Je'Von Evans Reportedly Receiving Backstage Praise in WWE

Just months into his tenure on WWE's main roster, Je'Von Evans is reportedly already becoming a favorite among many in the company.

According to Rope Break (h/t Upton), several fellow wrestlers and members of the creative team have praised Evans' work since getting called up from NXT in January.

Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch have reportedly taken a particular liking to Evans and spent time with him backstage as well.

Given that Reigns and Lynch are two of WWE's biggest stars of the past decade, that information suggests Evans has the seal of approval from some influential people within the company.

Evans is just 22 years of age, but he is already hugely popular with the WWE fanbase thanks to his athleticism, infectious personality and willingness to throw caution to the wind during his matches.

He was among the standouts in the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 42, and his pursuit of the IC title has continued coming out of WrestleMania as well.

On Monday night's episode of Raw, Evans had a hugely entertaining title bout against Penta. After coming up short, Evans was not receptive to Penta raising his hand, leaving fans to wonder if he was teasing a change to his character.

Regardless of what happens with that, Evans has massive potential to be a star, and it seems as though many in WWE share that same outlook.
