Travis Kelce Talks Attending Cavs Game With Taylor Swift, Viral Beer Chug Video

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said he was trying to energize the Cleveland Cavaliers by chugging a beer on camera while sitting courtside with his fiancée Taylor Swift during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks.

"It was a classy chug, Jason," Travis told his brother on Wednesday's episode of their New Heights podcast. "Didn't spill one drop. Didn't crush the can. I'm on hardwood floor of an NBA game, could've got messy. It was a smooth, classy chug to get the people going."

"We were down f--king 10 points. I'm trying to get some kind of f--king energy going in the building."

Kelce also explained the decision to attend the game with Swift.

"This wasn't me trying to persuade Taylor into being a Cleveland sports fan with me," Kelce said. "This was me just having a fun date night knowing that I love going to basketball games. We actually tried to go to a game in New York but I was stuck in Kansas City. I love bringing her into the sports world that I appreciate. That's why you've seen us at the U.S. Open tennis matches, other baseball games, and the Guards vs. the Yanks two years ago. I just enjoy bringing her to experience a lot of the fun that I've always known to have."

Kelce's antics were not enough to will the Cavs to victory. The Cavaliers went on to lose the game 121-108 in one of four blowout losses suffered during the Knicks' series sweep.

A native of Cleveland Heights, Kelce has previously professed himself to be a lifelong Cleveland sports fan.

"Obviously, being a Cleveland sports fan all my life, getting Tay back to Cleveland and showing her my roots is always something I love doing... It was tough to see them lose, but at the same time, man, it was just so fun to be in the building and feel the electricity in the building," Kelce said.

He conceded on his podcast, however, that the Knicks are "on fire right now" after outscoring the Cavs by a total of 77 points in the series sweep.

"Seeing it live in person, seeing how those guys react, seeing how well of a team they are— I haven't seen it in person for the Western Conference stuff, and I know they've got a lot of big stars over there... but the Knicks right now are just so good, man, and they're knocking down big-time shots," Kelce said.

Kelce continued, "Hats off to New York, man. I'm probably going to be rooting for them from here on out."

The Knicks will now advance to the NBA Finals to play either the Oklahoma City Thunder, who hold a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference Finals, or the San Antonio Spurs, who need another victory in order to force Game 7.

The Spurs will tip off a must-win Game 6 on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. ET in San Antonio.
