Bryce Young's Leadership Praised By Panthers HC Dave Canales Amid Trending Video of QB at OTAs

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales loved the leadership and emotion that quarterback Bryce Young showcased during offseason team activities on Tuesday, specifically when he demanded teammates execute better after a torrential downpour in Charlotte subsided, per Steve Reed of the Associated Press.

"I heard him get a little bit passionate. We had a monsoon here for a second at practice (and) once the rain had passed he was like, 'hey, let's lock back in. We have to come up with these balls.' I think he said it with a little more colorful language than that," Canales said as he smiled ear-to-ear.

"But I love it. I love the fact that he's taking ownership and the guys see that and rally around that. I think it's something they all appreciate," he added.

Panthers beat writer Sheena Quick of FOX Sports Radio1340 provided video of Carolina players practicing in the heavy rain.

That rain let up, but Young wasn't happy with what he saw (NSFW).

"It's not raining anymore. Clean this s--t up now. It's not f--king raining. We need better execution," Young said.

Young endured a tumultuous first two NFL seasons, and that included an early-season 2024 benching.

However, he's rebounded from that experience quite well and just led the Panthers to an NFC South title. Carolina's record has improved from 2-15 to 5-12 to 8-9 this past season, and the Panthers even nearly knocked off the tough 12-win Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Wild Card round before losing 34-31.

Young has gotten better as his career has progressed, and now he's looking to make a bigger leap in year four. Canales is clearly happy with his leadership skills as the team readies for the 2026 season, which begins on Sept. 13 at home against the Chicago Bears.
