Rhea Ripley Beats Jade Cargill to Retain WWE Women's Title at Clash in Italy After WrestleMania Win

Rhea Ripley defeated Jade Cargill at Clash in Italy on Sunday to retain the WWE Women's Championship.

Cargill and Ripley poured their all into a hard-hitting match.

The Australian star initially looked to have the win secured before B-Fab put Cargill's foot on the bottom rope. When The Storm hit her Jaded finisher, Charlotte Flair placed Ripley's foot on the bottom rope.

Ripley recovered and hit her second Riptide finisher to earn her second win over Cargill.

Sunday's bout was a WrestleMania 42 rematch, as Ripley beat Cargill on The Grandest Stage of Them All to win the fourth WWE women's world title of her career.

Following a brief absence coming out of WrestleMania, Cargill returned with a vengeance on the May 8 episode of SmackDown, as she, Michin and B-Fab interfered during a six-woman tag team match pitting Ripley, Flair and Alexa Bliss against Fatal Influence.

Cargill and her group proceeded to launch an attack against Ripley, Flair and Bliss after the match in what was a clear statement that The Storm was looking to take back the WWE women's title.

That moment set the stage for a huge match at Saturday Night's Main Event on May 23, as the team of Cargill, Michin and B-Fab faced Ripley, Flair and Bliss.

Ripley clearly wanted to get her hands on Cargill throughout the matchup, but The Storm avoided her for most of it before taking advantage when the opportunity presented itself.

Cargill hit Rhea with Jaded and pinned her to win the match for her team, while also gaining a ton of momentum heading into Clash in Italy.

Although Ripley was victorious at WrestleMania, it was an evenly matched affair that could have gone either way, meaning the Aussie Superstar was indeed susceptible to dropping the title right back to Cargill.

On top of that, Jade again had the benefit of both Michin and B-Fab potentially getting involved and creating a numbers disadvantage against Ripley.

Despite that, Ripley persevered and had a successful first title defense at Clash in Italy, and she may have brought an end to her rivalry with Cargill in the process.
