David Malukas Gives Emotional Interview on Video After Placing 2nd in Photo Finish in Indy 500
David Malukas couldn't have come much closer to winning the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.
Malukas finished second behind Felix Rosenqvist in the closest Indianapolis 500 finish ever. The 24-year-old was understandably emotional afterwards.
"I don't know what else we could've done," he said. "We were the fastest car that whole race. I gave it 150 percent. I mean, I almost crashed this damn car every lap... I just can't believe it. I don't know what else I can give."

Kyle Busch's Cause of Death Released
Malukas couldn't have done much more to ensure victory at the iconic race. After passing Marcus Armstrong heading into the final restart, he led for the majority of the final lap and into Turn 4, but Rosenqvist caught up to him and eventually passed him right before the finish line to give Meyer Shank Racing its second IndyCar win and second win at the Indy 500.
"What a run by both guys there at the end," Mike Shank, owner of Meyer Shank Racing, said. "I'm so proud of this team.
Rosenqvist edged out Malukas, who previously raced for Meyer Shank, by .0233 seconds.
"I think we were the best car today," Rosenqvist said. "In all situations, we kind of had it under control. That last yellow didn't help us, but it kind of worked out the right way when I got back to third, and then I just had a flat-out lap on the highline. Just the coolest way you can win an Indy 500."
Malukas, who made his IndyCar debut in 2022, is still looking for his first IndyCar Series win, and while he came up short on Sunday, he proved that he has what it takes to win on the biggest stage.
