ACC Baseball Championship Bracket 2026 UNC vs. Georgia Tech Score, Reaction

The ACC baseball championship's five-round, 16-team bracket culminated with the conference's two powerhouses, No. 1 Georgia Tech and No. 2 North Carolina, facing off in Charlotte on Sunday for the league title.

In the end, Georgia Tech won 13-6 behind a powerful offensive performance.

Center fielder Drew Burress went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBI. He also became his school's home run king with the blast (58).

Catcher Vahn Lackey went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Third baseman Ryan Zuckerman, the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, went 2-for-5 with a homer, two runs and two RBI. Right fielder Alex Hernandez added three hits (two doubles) and four RBI.

Zuckerman's solo shot tied the game at one in the first.

Georgia Tech later put up five runs in the third thanks to Burress' two-run homer and Hernandez's bases-clearing double.

UNC got two back in the fourth and fifth innings, with Owen Hull, who had an RBI single in the first, smashing a two-run homer in the later frame to cut the deficit to 6-5.

However, Georgia Tech was too strong on this day. A sixth-inning Jarren Advincula sac fly scored one before Lackey added an RBI single for the 8-5 edge. UNC got one back in the seventh off a Macon Winslow RBI groundout, scoring Hull. However, Georgia Tech then scored three in the seventh on three wild pitches.

Zuckerman and Hernandez RBI singles in the eighth gave GT the 13-6 advantage.

With the victory, Georgia Tech head coach James Ramsey also made history.

Fans and analysts reacted to the game and some of the great individual performances.

Georgia Tech finished the regular season 48-9 with the victory, which marked its 10th-ever ACC title (the second-most in league history behind Clemson's 11). UNC went 45-11-1.

Both will assuredly be seeded highly in the NCAA tournament. UNC was No. 2 in the latest DIBaseball.com Top 25 rankings, and Georgia Tech was third.
