BS Meter on Multiple Ex-WWE Stars Returning Rumors, Latest on Darby Allin's Title Run, More
Despite WWE's Clash in Italy coming up on May 31, it feels like pro wrestling has hit a bit of a mini-offseason right now in the post-WrestleMania haze.
But while the on-air programming hits a downswing, the rumor mill manages to keep on firing.
Despite being off in retirement now, John Cena is doing a lot of the heavy lifting himself. Add on some major buzz about big returns possibly happening soon and it's a little easy to get overwhelmed trying to keep up.
To help fans keep up with the rumor mill, let's put the biggest rumors on the BS Meter, with 10 being the highest form of unbelievable buzz fans can safely dismiss.
Darby Allin buzz
1 of 5
The Rumor
Darby Allin is winning people over in AEW. According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (h/t Cain A. Knight of Cageside Seats), Allin's title run has "won over" those in AEW who didn't necessarily love the idea.
Reaction
Allin winning the title at all was a shocker, let alone in a quick surprise hot-shot that nobody saw coming. But he's had some really fun matches with his usual high-risk stuff, proving with each defense that his style of wrestling and character can indeed make it on the main-event scene.
BS Meter: 5
Bit of an odd rumor. How many people inside AEW really changed their tune on Allin? The matches and character haven't changed dramatically, just jumped in scale to match the main-event scene. Alas, one can almost feel detractors of the idea amongst wrestling fans starting to like how it's working out.
Baron Corbin return?
2 of 5
The Rumor
Baron Corbin is a name fans haven't heard in a while. But according to Fightful Select (h/t Sean Rueter of Cageside Seats), he could be on his way back to WWE after finishing up other commitments.
Reaction
This should be obvious based on his prior time with the company, but WrestleVotes (h/t Knight) added his own report that Corbin remains a "locker room favorite." While his creative wasn't always the best, fans largely felt the same way and appreciated what Corbin did on a meta-level.
BS Meter: 1
This one always sort of felt like a matter of time. Corbin is only 41 years old and is clearly one of those guys who could find a pretty interesting place in Triple H's WWE, even if it's more around Danhausen funny stuff, as opposed to main-event scenes.
Danhausen's status with WWE
3 of 5
The Rumor
Speaking of Danhausen, according to PW Insider (h/t Geno Mrosko of Cageside Seats), he was a spotlight of WWE's Town Hall meeting, highlighted for turning around a rough debut into a major fan favorite in a hurry.
Reaction
One could argue Danhausen's debut wasn't bad, it was just going to take time for WWE audiences to catch on to the gimmick and enjoy it. And the fact the report mentions that he's currently the No. 2 merchandise mover is proof of his quick success, to say the least.
BS Meter: 1
WWE was missing a good comedic element. The fact Danhausen's merchandise is up there with the likes of Roman Reigns, CM Punk and others in 2026 is straight-up shocking, though, and speaks to his impact with the super-important kids audience, as well as right on up to adults.
Enzo and Cass buzz
4 of 5
The Rumor
Don't look now, but Enzo and Cass could be on their way back to WWE. According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), WWE is indeed interested in reuniting the former standout tag team.
Reaction
As mentioned in the report, Enzo was apparently seen at the WWE Performance Center recently. He and Cass have been out of the promotion for years, but given just how shockingly over they were (don't lie, you still remember the entire say-along schtick), it's not a shock to hear that WWE would entertain bringing them back.
BS Meter: 1
This one is a little weird after WWE made some cuts to the tag division. But it's also a welcome one. Enzo was, oddly enough, one of the best talkers in the company. Cass has massively improved in other promotions. WWE has changed in many ways, including creative, since they were last seen, so they could be an even bigger hit in 2026.
The John Cena Classic latest
5 of 5
The Rumor
The latest update on the John Cena Classic is that…there is not much of an update. According to PW Insider (h/t Mrosko), WWE is not in a hurry to make the event happen, possibly pushing it to later in the year.
Reaction
Fitting, given how this has unfolded so far. Cena showed up and announced the event, but confusion quickly followed. The tournament that let fans vote on the winner, apparently meaning match losers could still advance via fan vote, seemed like a mess of an idea.
BS Meter: 1
Another buyable rumor right here. WWE's going to have Netflix and other platforms interested in this thing, given Cena's name tied to it and its inaugural status. Pushing it to later in the year gives some breathing room to, hopefully anyway, make tweaks to what felt like a last-second, panic decision.
