Bryce Young's Doubters Ripped by Panthers' Derrick Brown, People Won't Admit 'How Wrong They Were'

Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown says doubters of Bryce Young "don't want" to acknowledge the quarterback's improvements ahead of his fourth NFL season.

"People don't want to admit how good he's becoming because they'd have to go back and admit how wrong they were," Brown said aoubt Young around the 37:30 mark of his Thursday appearance on Green Light with Chris Long. "As we all know, people don't like doing that."

Brown continued, ""He came to work every single day and killed it. Killed it. He didn't care... I salute Bryce every single day on just dealing with all the outside noise and then still being able to come in there and be efficient in the work."

Brown added he feels all NFL quarterbacks, not just Young, have to perform under a level of scrutiny he doesn't envy.

"I would never want to be a quarterback in the NFL," Brown said. "It might be the worst job to have. It's the highest-paying, but it is the worst job to have in the NFL."

The Panthers moved up in the 2023 draft to select Young, who went on to record one of the least successful rookie seasons by a No. 1 pick in NFL history.

The quarterback was then benched for Andy Dalton when his struggles continued in 2024.

Young started to bounce back during his third NFL season in 2025. He led the Panthers to win the NFC South and earn a Wild Card berth while recording career highs in completion rate (63.6 percent), passing yards (3,011) and passing touchdowns (23).

The Panthers hopes of making it to the divisional round next winter hinge in large part on Young taking another step forward in his development. That will potentially begin Tuesday with the start of OTA offseason workouts.
