"It's hard not to have fun when the fans are like that," Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn told reporters on Friday. "We've got the best fans in the world, but it seems like the younger generation makes it more like a college atmosphere."
It's also spawned a "Tarps Off" trend around the sport, with other fan bases joining the fun.
The Cardinals have given their fans plenty of reasons to cheer this season, starting off a surprising 28-19. Since a 14-13 start, St. Louis has gone 14-6 and is just a half-game back of the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central.
So the tarps are staying off.
