Mookie Betts, Jo Adell Reflect on Epic Shohei Ohtani-Mike Trout AB in 2023 WBC in B/R Video
Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell discussed Mike Trout's at-bat against Shohei Ohtani in the championship game of the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
Adell, who was on the Angels with both Trout and Ohtani at the time, revealed that he watched the game with his teammates during a Wednesday appearance on Bleacher Report's On Base.
"I think nobody knew what to say," Adell said (5:50 mark). "I think that's kind of what the vibe was because we were all sitting, watching the game. It was like well we can't say, 'What a punchout.' You know what I mean? Because we could get our bags packed and they're gonna send us out of here. We don't want to talk about it. You want to talk about two of the best players ever just going like a clash of titans, it was pretty unreal."

Betts, who is currently teammates with Ohtani, was also on the United States' 2023 WBC roster with Trout.
"That was really amazing," Betts said (6:40 mark). "Being there, you kind of take it for granted because you don't even really pay attention to that. You're just playing the game."
As Team Japan held a 3-2 lead over Team USA with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Trout stepped up to the plate to face Ohtani.
Trout ultimately struck out, as the Japanese team captured its first WBC title since 2009.
