Roman Reigns Beats Jacob Fatu to Retain WWE World Title in Tribal Combat at Clash in Italy 2026

Roman Reigns defeated Jacob Fatu in Tribal Combat to retain the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Clash in Italy on Sunday.

Fatu endured everything Reigns threw at him and even laughed off multiple Superman punches.

However, the champion landed a spear through a table and another brutal spear in the middle of the ring to retain his title.

Sunday's bout was a rematch from May 9 when Reigns beat Fatu at Backlash thanks partly to the use of an exposed turnbuckle.

After Reigns beat CM Punk for the world title in the main event of WrestleMania 42, he was confronted by Fatu, who is his real-life cousin. Fatu expressed his desire to win the World Heavyweight Championship and provide a better life for his family.

Reigns was initially reluctant to grant Fatu a title shot and potentially impact the dynamics within the Samoan dynasty, but Fatu left him no choice when he incapacitated him on multiple occasions with the Tongan Death Grip.

Although The Tribal Chief survived with his title reign intact at Backlash, Fatu stood tall that night when he took out Reigns with the Tongan Death Grip after the match and then held the championship belt high above his head.

Coming out of Backlash, Reigns insisted that Fatu acknowledge him, while The Usos tried to diffuse the situation.

That proved pointless, as Fatu took out both Jimmy and Jey before doing the same to Reigns once again.

On the May 18 episode of Raw, Reigns and The Usos finally got the better of The Samoan Werewolf. Given the never-ending chaos, Raw general manager Adam Pearce was poised to fire Fatu, but Reigns stepped in.

Due to his continued desire to have Fatu acknowledge him as Tribal Chief, Reigns accepted Fatu's challenge of Tribal Combat for the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash in Italy.

Fatu got what he wanted with the No Holds Barred stipulation, but he again fell short in his pursuit of the world title.
