Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.

Latest on Punk's Potential Return to WWE TV

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

Although CM Punk has been off WWE programming in recent weeks, he is reportedly expected to be back in the fold for an upcoming, major premium live event.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), Punk will be a significant part of SummerSlam, which is scheduled for Aug. 1 and 2 in Minneapolis.

WrestleVotes added that Punk could potentially even be involved with the July 18 Saturday Night's Main Event at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

After losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 42, Punk appeared the next night on Raw in a segment with WWE champion Cody Rhodes.

Punk has been off TV since then, which suggests WWE may have been foreshadowing a potential Punk vs. Rhodes match for a later date, potentially at SummerSlam.

As of now, Punk is not advertised for an appearance until the June 29 episode of Raw in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He is also advertised for Raw the following week in his hometown of Chicago.

Punk was not on Backlash and it does not appear as though he will be on Clash in Italy at the end of this month.

He may be left off next month's Night of Champions premium live event as well since he is not advertised to appear until after that show.

Given that Punk was on TV almost every week and wrestled often throughout his world heavyweight title reign, it could very well benefit from this break in terms of resting up and making the fanbase miss him before returning for an important part of the WWE calendar.

How Cargill is Reportedly Viewed Internally By WWE

Jade Cargill is reportedly impressing WWE officials despite rumors of backstage heat in recent months.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Cain A. Knight of Cageside Seats), there was heat on Cargill months ago, but WWE decision-makers are happy with her progress and still view her as a star.

WrestleVotes may have been referencing a report by PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson (h/t Sean Rueter of Cageside Seats) from March at around the time Cargill got in a war of words with Rhea Ripley, Chelsea Green and Piper Niven on X.

Johnson reported that the barbs were legitimate rather than part of a storyline, and he added that multiple women's wrestlers in WWE had issues with Cargill.

Another source told Johnson that some women in WWE felt Cargill was disrespectful and came off as "insecure."

Cargill began her wrestling career with AEW from 2020 to 2023 before leaving and signing with WWE.

Since her arrival, Cargill has received a significant push, holding the WWE Women's Championship and WWE Women's Tag Team Championships, in addition to winning the 2025 Queen of the Ring tournament.

Cargill dropped the WWE women's title to Ripley at WrestleMania 42, but they recently renewed their rivalry, and a rematch could be on the horizon.

Vaquer Reportedly Expected Back from Injury Soon

Stephanie Vaquer has been out of action for nearly a month, but she reportedly may be back in the fold soon.

According to PWInsider.com (h/t Knight), Vaquer is expected to return by the weekend of the Clash in Italy premium live event, which is set for May 31.

After dropping the Women's World Championship to Liv Morgan at WrestleMania 42, Vaquer confronted her on the Raw after WrestleMania. However, she was attacked backstage by The Judgment Day the following week.

It was later reported by WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Derek Holloway of Ringside News) that Vaquer was written off due to a legitimate injury, and she was expected to be out for at least six weeks.

A return by Clash in Italy would beat that timeline, which could bode well for the women's world title scene.

With Vaquer out, Morgan has neither defended her title nor entered into a storyline regarding the championship. That could be due to WWE's desire to wait until La Primera is back.

Whenever Vaquer returns, all signs point toward a WrestleMania rematch between her and Liv shortly thereafter.
