Brandon Nimmo Gifts Signed Ball with Message to Astros Fan After Robbing HR in Trending Video
Good things come to those who wait, as one Houston Astros fan learned Sunday when deciding not to reach for a potential home run ball off the bat of Yordan Alvarez.
With no fans interfering on the play, Texas Rangers right fielder Brandon Nimmo was able to leap at the wall and make a spectacular catch to keep Sunday's game scoreless in the fourth inning.
Nimmo appreciated the fans clearing the way and gifted a signed ball with the message "Thanks 4 Letting Me Go After It!"

The fan wrote on social media that "actually knowing the baseball fan interference rules" contributed to the decision not to reach for the ball
"As a 31-year Houston Astros season ticket holder and lifelong fan, there was no way I was reaching over that wall and interfering with Brandon Nimmo trying to catch Yordan Alvarez's solo homer," the fan explained.
With the game still tied, Texas built momentum from there and went on to win 8-0.
Nathan Eovaldi threw seven scoreless innings, while Jake Burger launched a two-run homer. Nimmo also had a double and an RBI, but it was his incredible catch that stood out the most.
"We talked about momentum-changing plays," Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. "If Alvarez hits a home run, that is a difference-making play on their side. The fact that he brought it back was momentum on our side, which hasn't happened this series a lot. That was obviously a big play."
And, as Nimmo recognized, that "big play" was only possible because there was no fan interference.
