Barcelona Transfer News: Big-Name Stars Named in Latest Camp Nou Rumours

Tom SunderlandAug 8, 2015

New Barcelona signing Arda Turan will spend the first half of this season on the sidelines after confirming he won't be going out on loan, while Pedro is prepared to make his final appearance for the Blaugrana.

Barca cannot register Turan as a player until their transfer embargo expires in January, but Turan told of manager Luis Enrique's wish to keep him close to the squad until then, per FourFourTwo:

"

Galatasaray didn't try to take me on loan. To do that, they would have spent all of the money which they have reserved for the youth team and I don't want Galatasaray to spend a lot of money on me. Besides, Luis Enrique wants me to continue in Barcelona and be close to the team.

It had been speculated Turan could leave the club on a temporary deal until he is able to make his Barca bow in the new year, but this confirms he'll remain under Enrique's watch without actually being available to play.

A six-month absence may seem like an eternity to some players, but Turan gives the impression he's content with the choice to stay in Catalan country, adding:

"

The days are flying past quickly in Barcelona. I thought that it might be difficult to go for six months without playing but I am trying to prepare myself for when I am finally able to play. My team-mates are helping me and make me feel a part of the club. The months running up to January will be very different, but I will try to adapt to my situation.

I'll feel a bit sad not being able to play until then but I have to look at the positive side and turn it to my advantage to prepare myself. I’ve dreamed about this since I was a kid.

"

Turan also won't be assigned a shirt number until January, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, which quotes the player as telling broadcaster NTVSpor that Lionel Messi is willing to offer him the coveted No. 10:

"

When I got into the Turkish national team, I was wearing the number 14, because my father is a fan of Cruyff, but my shirt number is not too important to me. I will decide in January. Messi told me: 'If you want the 10, it's yours.'

I can play in any position and I will work for it, this is why I have signed for Barça. I came to fight and I want to be one of the cogs of the team.

"

That kind of sacrifice may not mean a lot to the players concerned, but it acts as an indicator of just how seamlessly Turan is fitting into his new environment.

Any chances of the winger leaving the club this summer were also stunted late last month after Turan suffered a strain in his right ankle, as told by Barca's official Twitter account:

The willingness to give up any playing activity also showcases an admirable attitude on behalf of Turan, who would rather integrate further at the Camp Nou than get first-team action elsewhere.

Enrique and Barcelona fans alike can look forward to the impact Turan will have when he does become available to their cause in the winter, awaiting his debut with bated breath until that date.

Pedro Poised for Barcelona Swansong

A UEFA Super Cup encounter with Europa League champions Sevilla could be Pedro's last game in Barcelona colours as the winger nears a move to Manchester United.

That's according to Sport (via Daily Star's Jamie Anderson), who adds that Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward already met with the player's representatives last week to sanction the move.

Pedro has been strongly linked with a Camp Nou exit this summer after falling behind the likes of Messi and Neymar in the pecking order, with new signings Turan and Aleix Vidal promising to complicate matters further.

What's more, the Daily Mail's Pete Jenson insists West Ham United have missed out on a move for youngster Alen Halilovic because Barca want to use him as bait to secure a Pedro replacement:

The promise of first-team football doesn't appear all that strong for the winger at present, but Angel Di Maria's recent move to Paris Saint-Germain means Old Trafford could be a more accommodating home.

Bleacher Report's Andy Brassell recently discussed whether Pedro should be considered an upgrade to Di Maria, who left England last week after a disappointing single campaign in the Premier League:

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will want to bring in a replacement for his departed forward as soon as possible, having already acquired the talents of Netherlands international Memphis Depay.

Earlier this week, James Dickenson of the Daily Express quoted new Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez, who confirmed Pedro's £22 million release clause and admitted the player could depart:

"

Pedro? His buyout clause is €30m (£22m). He's a player that has performed fantastically for Barca. Both the manager and I want him to stay. We don't want to lose him but we know that this is a risky situation and we'll have to wait. If he goes, we'll lose a lot of things.

"

Despite slipping out of the starting lineup in Catalunya, Pedro nevertheless brings the experience of a World Cup and Champions League winner with him and is to be rightfully considered an elite talent of his own.

Barca have made it clear they want the player to remain in his home of the past 11 years, but the need to secure first-team football ahead of Euro 2016 may be too great a priority in Pedro's mind.
