The card is pard of UFC's Annual International Fight Week. It will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
This bout will be a rematch of McGregor's unanimous decision win over Holloway (30-27, 30-27, and 30-26) at a UFC Fight Night bout in Aug. 2013.
Earlier this month, UFC President Dana White said on the Jim Rome Show that he was "extremely confident" McGregor would fight this summer.
Sure enough, that's happening.
McGregor, 37, last fought in July 2021 at UFC 264, when he suffered a broken lower tibia in a match against Dustin Poirier.
McGregor was the first person in UFC history to hold two championships in separate weight classes simultaneously when he won the lightweight belt in Nov. 2016. He won and unified the featherweight title in Dec. 2015 against José Aldo. McGregor even fought at welterweight, splitting two matches with Nate Diaz in 2016.
For his MMA career, McGregor is 22-6 with 19 knockouts.
Holloway, 34, is a well-accomplished fighter himself, of course. The former UFC featherweight champion is 27-9 lifetime with 12 knockouts. He has some big wins on his resume, including victories over Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje and two vs. Aldo. Holloway is also the former "BMF" title holder as well.
Holloway has 20 wins in UFC featherweight matches alone, and that mark is a promotion record.
This should be an intriguing fight to say the least, and the countdown is now on to one of the most anticipated combat sports events of the year.
