PGA Championship Cut Line 2026 for Bryson DeChambeau and Full List of Players Removed

Scott PolacekMay 15, 2026

Alex Smalley and Maverick McNealy are sitting atop a crowded leaderboard at four-under through two rounds of the 2026 PGA Championship with six other golfers within one stroke, but they no longer have to worry about a number of formidable competitors following Friday's cut.

With a cut line of four-over at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, plenty of star power will not be participating during the weekend of the year's second major championship.

Bryson DeChambeau, Viktor Hovland, Tommy Fleetwood, Keegan Bradley, Gary Woodland, Adam Scott, Max Homa, Akshay Bhatia, Wyndham Clark, Tyrrell Hatton and J.J. Spaun were among those who did not finish above the cut line.

While the U.S. Open is generally considered the major that provides the most difficult test for golfers, Aronimink Golf Club was daunting during the opening two rounds.

Scottie Scheffler, who shot one-over Friday but is two-under for the tournament and well within striking distance, told reporters, "Most of the pins today were kind of absurd. I was a bit surprised how far they pushed a lot of these pin locations."

He continued and said, "This is the hardest set of pin locations that I've seen since I've been on Tour, and that includes U.S. Opens, that includes Oakmont. It's difficult to get the ball close to the hole. It's difficult to hole putts, especially when you have big slopes and wind, and I think that's why you see the scores so close to par."

Throw in gusty winds, and just 21 players have a two-round score under par entering the weekend.

Scheffler was able to handle the conditions and pin locations enough to make the weekend, but the same cannot be said of DeChambeau. The two-time major winner shot a six-over 76 in Thursday's opening round and followed that with a one-over 70 in Friday's second round.

He has now missed the cut in four of the seven majors he has played since winning the 2024 U.S. Open.

It seemed like another one of the sport's biggest stars might miss the cut as well when Rory McIlroy shot a four-over 74 in Thursday's opening round. That put his back against the wall with the cut looming, but he responded in impressive fashion Friday with a three-under 67.

"I just need to try to figure it out. I honestly thought I'd figured it out," McIlroy told reporters after the first round. "Coming in here, I hit it well on Sunday at Quail Hollow and then hit it good at home on Monday. ... Once I get under the gun, it just seems like it starts to go a little bit wayward on me."

He seemed to figure it out Friday.
