Scottie Scheffler Talks 'Absurd' PGA Championship Pin Locations, 'Hadn't Seen Anything Like It'

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler made his feelings known about the pin locations for the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

"Most of the pins today were kind of absurd," Scheffler said, per ESPN's Paolo Uggetti. "I was a bit surprised how far they pushed a lot of these pin locations."

Here's a look at those pin locations.

Scheffler in particular called about the pin location on No. 14, a 215-yard par-three.

"That was one of the craziest pins I've seen," Scheffler said. "They put the pin on like this microphone, like it was just like a high point. I hadn't seen anything like it."

Scheffler said he made an "extremely good par" on that hole en route to a one-over 71 on Friday, and he enters the weekend at two-under. Scheffler is absolutely in contention for his fifth major and second straight PGA Championship victory.

However, the 29-year-old, who turned professional in 2018, noted the difficult challenge.

"This is the hardest set of pin locations that I've seen since I've been on Tour, and that includes U.S. Opens, that includes Oakmont," Scheffler said. "It's difficult to get the ball close to the hole. It's difficult to hole putts, especially when you have big slopes and wind, and I think that's why you see the scores so close to par."

The wind certainly added to golfers' problems. Per Wind Finder, the wind gusted up to 21 mph in the morning. The tough pin locations led to problems throughout the field.

Patrick Reed, the 2018 Masters champion, wasn't thrilled with what he saw either, per Jeff Neiburg of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Like Scheffler, he's still hanging around at even-par through 36 holes.

Moving day at the PGA Championship goes down on Saturday. We'll see how the pin locations are soon enough as a packed leaderboard fights for the Wanamaker Trophy.
