AJ Dybantsa NBA Draft Trade Rumors Addressed By Jazz Gov. Amid No. 1 Pick Buzz

There has been plenty of speculation that the Utah Jazz could trade up to select AJ Dybantsa with the top overall pick, considering that he spent two years at Utah Prep Academy and also stayed in state when he went to college at BYU.

Team governor Ryan Smith addressed those rumors on Wednesday.

"Contrary to popular belief, we don't control that," he said. "We are trying to win a championship, so everything should be on the table. Austin and Danny [Ainge] have also been known to do some pretty crazy stuff on draft night."

It takes two to tango, of course. The Washington Wizards hold the top overall selection, so even if the Jazz covet Dybantsa they would need Washington to be willing trade partners. If the Wizards clearly have Dybantsa atop their board, they may not be inclined to trade back.

Granted, Kansas' Darryn Peterson is also considered an elite prospect in this class, so perhaps Washington could be swayed. Smith certainly didn't rule out the prospect of trading up to No. 1 in the event Washington picks up the phone.
