NFL offseason rules allow for individual or group drills during Phase 2 but no full 11-on-11 or 7-on-7 practices.
Penix is recovering from a torn left ACL suffered on Nov. 16, the third time he's suffered that particular injury dating back to his college years (though both times in college were to the right ACL).
He's had his struggles when healthy during his first two seasons, throwing for 2,757 yards, 12 touchdowns and six interceptions across 14 games while completing just 59.6 percent of his passes. The Falcons are just 4-8 in his starts.
Atlanta signed Tua Tagovailoa in the offseason to provide competition, so Penix's starting gig is hardly guaranteed. But he's on the road to returning healthy ahead of training camp this summer.
