Azzi Fudd Injured, Latest News on Wings Star's Status vs. Angel Reese, Dream
Azzi Fudd's rookie season isn't off to the smoothest start.
The Dallas Wings' top overall pick scored just three points in her WNBA debut on Sunday, and now she'll miss the second game of the season on Tuesday due to a right knee injury, per the team.
That means no Fudd for a high-profile matchup against Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream. Both teams are 1-0 to start the season.

Fudd coming off the bench in the team's first game of the season—and also getting just 18 minutes in the 107-104 win against the Indiana Fever—raised some eyebrows. Top overall picks normally get starting positions right out of the gate, though Dallas does have veteran Odyssey Sims in that same position.
Head coach Jose Fernandez said he wasn't currently contemplating getting Fudd into the starting lineup at some point this season.
"I don't think about it that way. Is she capable of doing that? Yes, she is … When it does happens, I think she'll be ready," he told reporters. "... The other thing, when she gets in and she's a shooter, I gotta get her more involved, get her some looks, but you got to give other teams credit too. Other teams prepare for really good players."
As for her struggle to make an impact in the opening game of the season, he largely dismissed having any concerns.
"Keep doing what she's doing, it's her first year in the league," he said. "We've got five really talented backcourt players."
Fudd is too good to not eventually make a major impact for Dallas. But it's hard to imagine this is the start to her WNBA career she envisioned.
