Preakness Prediction

Brittany Russell can follow in the footsteps of Cherie DeVaux, the first woman trainer to win the Kentucky Derby, by becoming the first to win the Preakness with horse Taj Mahal.
The three-year-old racehorse enters the Preakness undefeated having won all three of his career starts and compiling $178,200 in winnings. In his most recent performance, he led by as many as 10 lengths before winning by over eight, sheer dominance for a horse that is relatively inexperienced.
The colt drew the rail side, which was the worst possible post outcome because of the lack of speed that particular spot allows for. That trainer Russell is 0-32 in graded stakes only causes further hesitation from bettors and for-fun predictors.
Luckily, Ocelli and Crupper are not speed-defined horses, which may allow for Russel's husband, jockey Sheldon, to guide Taj Mahal through the back and to the outside, where he can capitalize on his speed and make a realistic push toward a Preakness win.
If he does find space, Taj Mahal is as good and as fast as any of the horses in this particular field and can win it running away.
Call it a long shot, but he picks up the win here and Russell becomes the latest woman in the world of horse racing to make history.
