Agholor Comments on Severity of Injury
Thursday, Oct. 22
Agholor confirmed that he has a high ankle sprain, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, who speculated the wide receiver could return after the bye week.
"Agholor says the pain is in his left shin. A muscle injury. Nothing serious," noted Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com on Oct. 11.
Injury Hampers Rookie's Development
The Eagles have put a lot into Agholor and his progression. They selected him with the 20th overall pick in this year's draft to be a key piece of Kelly's roster reconstruction. Jeremy Maclin signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a free agent, which opened up a spot on the depth chart.
Wide receiver depth is a concern for the Eagles, with Jordan Matthews and Riley Cooper serving as the top two returning players at the position and Agholor finding his footing. Philadelphia is also dealing with an unstable quarterback situation, as Sam Bradford has not been durable in his career.
Agholor has the raw talent to play a key role in Kelly's offense for the remainder of the year, so losing valuable reps because of his injury would significantly hinder the team.
Through the first five weeks of the season, he has yet to find the end zone and has accumulated just eight receptions for 105 yards on 17 targets.
