New WWE Rumors on Brock Lesnar's Backstage Status amid Retirement Buzz
While Brock Lesnar appeared to signify the end of his career at WrestleMania 42 last month, it appears that his status in WWE is still intact.
According to a report from PWInsider (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), WWE is still internally listing Lesnar as an active performer despite recently moving his online profile to the alumni section of WWE.com. The report added that he's being classified internally as a "free agent," meaning he hasn't been assigned to Monday Night Raw or SmackDown.
Lesnar left his gloves and boots in the ring after losing to Oba Femi on Night 2 of WrestleMania 42. He shared an emotional moment with his longtime advocate Paul Heyman and said goodbye to the fans in an apparent retirement.
Heyman recently told TMZ that he was unaware of Lesnar's plans beforehand, so he feels his retirement is official.
"If I knew he was gonna retire, would I have gone on record saying he was gonna dominate for the next 15 years?" Heyman said. "I was crying. Am I that good of an actor that I can cry on cue? Not I."
Despite Lesnar's public farewell, it now sounds like the door is still open for him to make another comeback in WWE at some point.
