Tarik Skubal's Injury Rehab Timeline Discussed by Scott Boras After Tigers Star's Elbow Surgery
Tarik Skubal's agent, Scott Boras, provided something of an update on the superstar pitcher's recovery from surgery to remove a loose elbow particle.
"We think that's going to be a much shorter period [of rehabilitation]," he said during an appearance on ESPN's Baseball Tonight podcast. "And he'll be able to return to performance at just a much, much earlier stage."
As ESPN's Buster Olney added, there is optimism within the Tigers' organization that Skubal could be back as soon as June.

Typically the recovery period for such a procedure is two or three months. But Dr. ElAttrache, who did Skubal's surgery, used the less-invasive NanoScope.
"This is really almost like receiving a shot," Boras noted.
Skubal, 29, was the back-to-back AL Cy Young winner in 2024-25 and started the 2026 season with a 3-2 record, 2.70 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 45 strikeouts in seven starts before being shut down this week. Getting him back sooner than later would be a huge boost for a Detroit team off to a disappointing 18-22 start.
