New WWE Rumors on Asuka's Retirement as Iyo Sky, Charlotte, Big E, Nakamura React to Backlash Loss

Amid the recent wave of talent departures from WWE, Asuka may have joined the group after her loss to Iyo Sky at Backlash on Saturday night.

In the aftermath of the premium live event, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio explained that the story going around is Asuka is viewed as being "semi-retired" and may not continue to wrestle in WWE.

After a prolonged feud between the Kabuki Warriors and Sky that got cut off abruptly when Kairi Sane was released last month amid a wave of roster moves, Asuka and Iyo finally had a one-on-one match at Backlash.

Sky won clean with a moonsault and the two embraced in the ring after it was over.

Several superstars, including Sky and Asuka, posted comments on social media that made it seem like the Empress of Tomorrow was either retired or perhaps was part of the round of cuts but stayed on to give the storyline a proper ending.

It's very rare in WWE for a feud, especially one given as much time as this one, to be a one-off. As an example, Jacob Fatu lost clean to Roman Reigns in the main event, then attacked the OTC afterward to suggest they will continue to feud.

Everything Asuka and Sky did after the match certainly indicates it was the end of something. Whether it was just the end of a feud or perhaps the end of Asuka's WWE career will likely be answered sooner than later.
