Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd's Final Box Score Stats, Highlights as Wings Beat Fever
It doesn't get much better than Caitlin Clark vs. Paige Bueckers to open a WNBA season, and it certainly didn't disappoint.
The Dallas Wings, led by Buckers' 20 points and four assists, opened their season with a 107-104 win over the Indiana Fever in a fantastic, back-and-forth showdown.
Arike Ogunbowale added 22 points and five dimes, while Azzi Fudd's WNBA debut was a bit of a dud, as she managed just three points—and only two field-goal attempts—in 18 minutes off the bench.
Clark led a three-headed attack for the Fever, putting up 20 points and seven assists, though she did have five turnovers and shot just 2-of-9 from three. Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 30 points, while Aliyah Boston added 23 points and four boards.
WNBA observers were loving the star-studded showdown between the Wings and Fever:
Dallas won just 10 games last season, but it's clear the Wings are ready for big things with a young roster headlined by Bueckers and Fudd, alongside veteran ballers in Ogunbowale and Odyssey Sims.
The Fever, meanwhile, managed to reach the postseason a year ago despite Clark missing the majority of the season. With Clark back and healthy, title aspirations don't feel so unrealistic.
These are both franchise on the rise. That much was clear on Saturday.
