
UNC's Dominic Pietramala Makes History, Sets NCAA Lacrosse Tournament Single-Game Scoring Record
North Carolina lacrosse star Dominic Pietramala had a historic performance in Saturday's 24-6 win over Albany in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Pietramala set a new single-game tournament record with 10 goals in the Tar Heels' victory.
Per Lacrosse Network, Pietramala also set two school records for career goals and single-season goals.
Former North Carolina star Chris Cloutier was part of a three-way tie for the most goals in an NCAA tournament game with nine prior to Pietramala's record-breaking performance. Syracuse's Gary Gait and Brown's Oliver Marti also scored nine times in a tournament game.
Pietramala notched 10 goals on 12 shots on goal. He entered the day tied for 10th in the country with 43 goals in 16 games this season.
The win sends North Carolina into the second round where it will await the winner of Sunday's matchup between Yale and Syracuse.
