New Aaron Rodgers Rumors on Steelers Contact amid Contract Talks for 2026 NFL Season

Timothy RappMay 9, 2026

As the Aaron Rodgers saga unbearably drags on for yet another month, the veteran quarterback has seemingly provided a hint as to his future plans this weekend.

Per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rodgers is currently in the city, though he has yet to directly meet with the Steelers:

Rodgers' visit to Pittsburgh had been previously reported, though it was also reported that there weren't any plans for the two sides to meet:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, meanwhile, reported that Rodgers was expected to play for the Steelers in 2026 and both sides "assumed" he would be back, though no agreement, formal or informal, is in place:

And Steelers general manager Omar Khan didn't shed much light on Rodgers' reported visit to Pittsburgh.

"I don't know where specifically Aaron is," he said on the You Better You Bet podcast. "I can tell you that Aaron and I, and [Mike McCarthy] and Aaron, and Aaron's representatives, we've had some good conversations since the season ended, since Mike got here, and it's been positive. But, yeah, I don't know where he is at this moment. We continue to have conversations and they're positive. And we had a good experience with him last year. I think he would probably echo the same thing. And you know, conversations continue."

The 42-year-old quarterback played well for the Steelers last season, throwing for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions, going 10-6 in his starts. Pittsburgh reached the playoffs but was one-and-done, their sixth straight postseason appearance without a win.

That contributed to the end of the Mike Tomlin era, and he was replaced by McCarthy, Rodgers' former coach in Green Bay. Whether the two will reunite yet again remains very much undecided, and at this point, we are all more than ready for a resolution.
