Ronda Rousey Has Emotional Reaction to Kobe Bryant Message from 2015 in Trending Video
Ronda Rousey is making her return to mixed martial arts following a 10-year absence when she faces Gina Carano on May 16 in a Most Valuable Promotions fight.
Netflix is showcasing the build-up to the fight via Countdown: Rousey vs. Carano. One highlight from the series showcased a profound message that late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant had for Rousey after she suffered the first loss of her MMA career in Nov. 2015 to Holly Holm.
MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian, who worked for UFC at the time, fielded the message and relayed to Rousey, who had an emotional reaction after reading Bryant's note.
Rousey, the first-ever female inductee into the UFC Hall of Fame, is one of the most dominant fighters the promotion has ever seen. She is 12-2 lifetime in MMA with three knockouts and nine submissions. Rousey successfully defended the UFC women's bantamweight championship on six occasions.
Her fight with Carano is set for May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
