Quarterback Carson Beck, on the other hand, is making a switch. Beck will wear No. 19 with the Cardinals after donning No. 11 for Miami.
No. 4 was most recently worn in Arizona by wide receiver Greg Dortch, who signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions this offseason.
The Cardinals selected Love with the No. 3 pick of the 2026 NFL draft to serve as the team's running back of the future.
That move allowed Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort to select arguably the best player available despite his team heading into next season without a long-term answer at quarterback in the wake of Kyler Murray's departure.
The Cardinals could be planning on targeting a quarterback in the 2027 draft in order to pair Love up with top signal calling prospect in the future.
For now, the Cardinals are heading into the 2026 season with a depth chart led by Jacoby Brissett in front of Gardner Minshew II and Beck.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in April that Brissett had skipped the beginning of the Cardinals' offseason program because he was "asking for an extension that pays him as the starter."
Brissett has been informed he is heading into next season as QB1 amid that ongoing contract dispute, ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reported Wednesday.
Weinfuss added that Beck is slated to serve as QB3 unless he "outplays some of the quarterbacks during camp." In that case, there's a chance Beck and Love could see playing time together next season as the Cardinals look to retool under new head coach Mike LaFleur.
