Per the zoo's official website, Tuve was born on March 20 to Ting and Max. The baby howler monkeys are native to various regions in the Pantanal area of South America.

Altuve is also from South America, as he was born in Venezuela. The zoo revealed Tuve's name to closely coincide with Altuve's 36th birthday, which was on Wednesday.

Altuve has spent his entire professional career with the Astros organization. He was originally signed as an international free agent in March 2007, then made his MLB debut midway through the 2011 season.

In 16 seasons with the Astros, Altuve has made the All-Star team nine times, won seven Silver Slugger awards and won the AL MVP award in 2017. He is one of three players in franchise history to play in at least 2,000 games with the club, along with Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell.
