Yankees' Jasson Dominguez Carted Off, Latest Injury Update After Collision vs. Rangers

Adam WellsMay 7, 2026

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Domínguez left Thursday's game against the Texas Rangers in the first inning on a cart after crashing into the fence in left field while making a catch.

The play saw Domínguez drift back and leap to make a catch at the warning track, but his back hit hard into a fenced-off section of the wall.

Per SNY's Chelsea Janes, Domínguez was able to get onto a cart under his own power after Yankees manager Aaron Boone and trainers came out to check on him.

Dominguez has since been placed in concussion protocol and diagnosed with an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder that will necessitate a stint on the IL.

Domínguez was called up from Triple-A by the Yankees on April 27 after Giancarlo Stanton went on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring injury.

The Yankees have primarily used Domínguez as their designated hitter. Thursday was just his second start in the outfield. He previously started in left field against the Rangers on April 29, but left in the fourth inning after being hit on the elbow by a pitch from Nathan Eovaldi.

Domínguez sat out the next game before returning to the lineup at DH on May 2. He started six consecutive games, including Thursday. The 23-year-old is hitting .200/.250/.367 with one homer in 32 plate appearances.

After Domínguez left the game, Boone shuffled his outfield mix by moving Cody Bellinger from right to left, Amed Rosario from third base to right field and putting Ryan McMahon at third base and the sixth spot in the lineup.

The Yankees entered play on Thursday with the American League's best record at 25-12. They won five straight games prior to a 6-1 loss against Texas on Wednesday night.
