It marked the fourth Stadium Stampede match in AEW history, and the first in nearly three years, as the last one took place in August 2023 at All In.
The rivalry between Jericho and Ricochet was the basis for Sunday's clash, as Ricochet and his Demand stablemates have been a thorn in Jericho's side ever since his return to AEW programming.
After nearly one year away, Jericho made a surprise return to AEW on the April 1 episode of Dynamite in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
One week later, Jericho officially signed his new AEW contract, but he was interrupted by Ricochet, who ended up being the 55-year-old veteran's opponent in his first match back at Dynasty.
Ricochet spoiled Jericho's in-ring return by beating him at Dynasty, and The Demand then proceeded to make Jericho's life miserable in the weeks that followed by attacking him on multiple occasions.
Because of that, Jericho pushed Ricochet for a rematch, but Ricochet was only willing to accept it on the condition of a Stadium Stampede match at Double or Nothing.
Ricochet made that suggestion due to his belief that Jericho would not be able to fill out a seven-man team, but that quickly backfired when The Hurt Syndicate saved Jericho from another attempted attack by The Demand.
The teams were later rounded out with The Elite joining Jericho and The Hurt Syndicate, while members of The Don Callis Family and The Dogs agreed to team with The Demand.
Since Jericho competed in each of the first two Stadium Stampede matches, it was fitting that he was involved with the return of the stipulation at Double or Nothing.
It was also appropriate that Jericho came out on the winning end and finally got some revenge against Ricochet.
