Updated 2026 WWE Backlash Card and Predictions for Match Order

Mike ChiariMay 8, 2026

Scores will be settled Saturday when WWE converges on Tampa, Florida, for the Backlash premium live event.

Backlash marks the first PLE since WrestleMania 42, and it figures to feature plenty of fallout from that show and from the past several months of WWE programming.

Long-running rivalries like Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker and Iyo Sky vs. Asuka will finally see things come to a head, while the first-ever one-on-one bout between Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu will anchor the event.

Top Backlash Matches to Watch

Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu

In the presumptive main event of the night, Roman Reigns will clash with fellow member of the Samoan bloodline Jacob Fatu with the World Heavyweight Championship hanging in the balance.

From the time Fatu made his WWE debut in 2024, many fans clamored for a match between him and Reigns, and it will finally happen at Backlash with plenty of heat behind it.

On the Raw after Reigns beat CM Punk for the world title at WrestleMania 42, Fatu confronted Reigns and made his desperation to be a world champ and top guy abundantly clear.

Things escalated in the weeks that followed, as The Samoan Werewolf broke out the Tongan Death Grip and used it against Reigns to great effect.

That added some much-needed conflict to the rivalry and match, and it figures to make for a highly entertaining affair in Tampa.

Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker

Months after Bron Breakker attacked Seth Rollins and altered the course of The Vision forever, they will finally do battle on the WWE PLE stage at Backlash.

Rollins returned from a shoulder injury in time for WrestleMania 42, but with Breakker on the shelf at the time due to a hernia, The Visionary faced off with Gunther in Las Vegas.

Breakker made his shocking return during the match, hitting Rollins with a spear, which allowed Gunther to take advantage and win.

After the match, Breakker hit Rollins with another devastating spear, and he has speared him on several more occasions since WrestleMania.

Rollins will be out for revenge, but Breakker promises to be highly motivated in his own right in what will be his first match since returning from injury.

Iyo Sky vs. Asuka

Ever since turning her back on Iyo Sky, Asuka has tormented her for months, but The Genius of the Sky will look to finally get the better of her mentor at Backlash.

Asuka has been a thorn in Iyo's side for quite some time, and while Sky has achieved some triumphs during that time, many of them came with Rhea Ripley by her side.

At Backlash, it will be Sky vs. Asuka in a one-on-one setting, though, and it represents Iyo's best chance to make The Emperor of Tomorrow pay for her actions.

On the go-home episode of Raw before Backlash, Asuka misted Sky in the eyes, which perhaps gives Asuka both the mental and physical edge entering Backlash.

Even so, their match promises to be a highly competitive and entertaining one, and it could ultimately close the book on a rivalry that has been a significant part of Raw for the past several months.
