The Preakness is the second leg on the road to the famed Triple Crown. The Belmont Stakes on June 6 is the final stage.
DeVaux explained that while she would welcome the opportunity to go after the Triple Crown, Golden Tempo is a horse that specializes in 1.25-mile races, and his unexpected win at the Kentucky Derby could have been his final burst. She said that they will be "waiting to see what his energy level is like when he gets back to the track."
DeVaux added that if Golden Tempo was "a different type of horse with a different running style, it would probably play different in our decision-making."
Fans will certainly be hoping to see Golden Tempo continue to chase history, so many will be awaiting DeVaux's decision.
