Tyrod Taylor, Packers Reportedly Agree to Contract as Jordan Love's Backup After Malik Willis Exit
Veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor is signing with the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Pelissero noted Green Bay is releasing quarterback Desmond Ridder.
Taylor joins a QB room that includes Kyle McCord and Kyron Drones, and he immediately becomes the backup to Jordan Love.

NFL Draft Sleeper Picks Who Could Become ROTY ⭐
Ridder has thrown for 4,002 yards, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 25 NFL appearances, while McCord has yet to log a snap in the regular season. The Philadelphia Eagles released him a year after selecting him in the sixth round of the draft.
Neither was an ideal understudy for a team that's trying to return to the playoffs.
Taylor is a far more experienced hand. In 61 starts, he has averaged 194.1 yards with an 88.3 passer rating.
In terms of his profile, the 36-year-old is almost an ideal backup because you can generally trust him in a pinch, but there isn't going to be a lot of popular support calling for him to take over full time.
Packers fans also watched coach Matt LaFleur turn Malik Willis, who had been cast aside by the Tennessee Titans, into a passer who collected a $67.5 million contract with the Miami Dolphins.
Taylor doesn't have any unrealized potential at this stage of his career, but LaFleur might be able to wring the most out of his talent if he's thrust into the starting role.
