Dolphins' Malik Willis Reacts to Wild 1st Pitch in Trending Video Before Marlins vs. Phillies
Ideally for the Miami Dolphins, Malik Willis' throws during the 2026 NFL season will go better than his first pitch ahead of Friday's Miami Marlins game.
Willis sailed the first pitch well above the catcher's head, which was rather surprising seeing how he throws a ball for a living. Granted, he throws footballs and not baseballs, but it still wasn't what many expected:
For his part, Willis appeared to have some fun with the situation when he wrote "I slipped" with a single-tear crying emoji on Instagram.
He figures to throw the football much better for the Dolphins in 2026, which will be important for the team since they lost Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle this offseason. Willis may have to outperform expectations if Miami is going to contend in the AFC East.
Willis did play well in limited opportunities of late, going 2-0 as a starter for the Green Bay Packers in 2024 and completing 85.7 percent of his passes for 422 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions in four game appearances last season.
He can also make plays with his legs as a runner if needed, which gives the offense another dimension.
If nothing else, he might have to play well for people to forget about his first pitch from Friday.
