Kentucky Derby Results 2026 Finishing Order, Replay Video and Payouts
Golden Tempo used an incredible surge on the outside to claim a surprise win at the 2026 Kentucky Derby.
The horse with 23-1 odds was way off the pace at the opening part of the race. Jockey Jose Ortiz brought Golden Tempo from behind down the outside to beat out Renegade.
Golden Tempo's win made Cherie DeVaux the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby and the second-ever female trainer to win a Triple Crown race.

Jose Ortiz and Golden Tempo beat out Ortiz's brother, Irad Ortiz Jr., who was aboard Renegade.
Jose Ortiz became the ninth jockey to win the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby in the same year.
Renegade, who was one of the pre-race favorites, surged down the outside alongside Golden Tempo, but could not complete the race from the back.
The third-place finisher Ocelli was an even more unlikely top-three placer. Ocelli had 70-1 odds as he entered the starting gate. He was one of a few horses that entered the field because of scratches by other horses.
Chief Wallabee, one of the handful of horses listed at 10-1 or lower, ended up in fourth place.
Danon Bourbon, Incredibolt, Commandment and Wonder Dean finished outside the top four in that order.
The team behind Golden Tempo took home a $3.1 million winners' purse. Renegade brought home a $1 million prize for second place.
