Final Prediction
3 of 3
Chief Wallabee not only has the trainer (Bill Mott) and jockey (Junior Alvarado) behind last year's Kentucky Derby winner, Sovereignty, but he has a classic pedigree and the stamina necessary to endure the long Churchill Downs track.
He has also consistently flashed high speeds and has proven to be a runner who can adapt to the speed of the race, making him one of the more complete competitors in this year's field.
Chief Wallabee won by one-and-a-half lengths in his career debut this past January and has placed in all three of his career races. Sure, he is among the most inexperienced horses in this year's field, but what he has in physical traits and training makes up for the lack of big-time races.
In a field that also has favorites like Renegade, Commandment, and Further Ado, Chief Wallabee will stick around until the final stretch, where his speed will allow him to push past the competition and reach the winner's circle.
