Kentucky Derby 2026 Lineup, Full Race Guide for All Horses and Jockeys

The 2026 Kentucky Derby field is loaded at the top.

A strong case could be made for five or six horses to claim the first leg of the Triple Crown on Saturday.

As of Friday morning, Renegade is still the favorite. Three other horses sit at 8-1 or lower.

Seven of the 20 three-year-old thoroughbreds in the field have odds of 15-1, while nine other competitors are long shots of 30-1 or higher.

Renegade has held firm as the pre-race favorite throughout the week.

The horse starting out of Post No. 1 is coming off a win at the Arkansas Derby and has one of the best teams behind him.

Renegade has two-time Derby-winning trainer Todd Pletcher preparing him for the race. Two-time Belmont Stakes winner Irad Ortiz Jr. is aboard as the jockey.

Renegade's two biggest competitors have superstar teams around them as well.

Commandment and Further Ado are both trained by 2021 Derby winner Brad Cox. Further Ado owns the jockey advantage with three-time Derby winner John Velazquez on board. Commandment will be ridden by two-time Belmont champion Luis Saez.

Commandment earned the most points in the Race to the Kentucky Derby because of his four straight victories.

Commandment is the best horse in the field if solely base your prediction on form.

Chief Wallabee, So Happy, The Puma and Emerging Market are the four other horses listed at 15-1 or lower.

So Happy possesses an edge in jockey experience with Mike E. Smith. The 2018 Triple Crown winner with Justify has two Derby victories and seven total Triple Crown wins.

One of the seven horses at 15-1 or lower should win given the overall quality of the horse and the trainers and jockeys behind them.

If you're in the market for long shot, Potente is worth a look. Potente took second at the Santa Anita Derby and is trained by Bob Baffert, who is tied for the most wins by a trainer in Derby history.
