Browns' Concepcion, Boston Picks Called Out by NFL Exec amid Shedeur Sanders, Watson QB1 Battle
One opposing NFL executive questioned the Cleveland Browns' decision to use two top-40 draft picks on wide receivers before having settled on a starting quarterback for 2026, according to The Athletic's Mike Sando.
The Browns started out by drafting offensive tackle Spencer Fano at No. 9 before adding wide receivers at No. 24 (KC Concepcion) and No. 39 (Denzel Boston).
"That was odd," the executive told Sando about the Browns' second two picks. "They are unsettled at the quarterback position, but they took two wideouts? Build your defense and run game."

Offseason Trade Block Big Board After NFL Draft 🏈

Making Sense of 2026 NFL Draft's Worst Picks 😨
The Browns went into the 2026 NFL draft with Jerry Jeudy leading the wide receiver depth chart ahead of Cedric Tillman.
Browns general manager Andrew Berry said after Day 2 of the draft the selections of Concepcion and Boston would have "zero impact" on Jeudy remaining the team's top receiver.
"With receiver rooms, you can have maybe a ball dominant player or you can essentially build a basketball team with different skill sets. We prefer the second approach," Berry said, per Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.
Bumping Tillman down the depth chart could make it easier for new head coach Todd Monken to run what is expected to be a pass-first offense in Cleveland.
The Browns have yet to decide who will be under center in Monken's new offense, however. After finishing out last season with Shedeur Sanders under center, the Browns are considering turning back to Deshaun Watson for his first NFL action since 2024.
As of last week's voluntary minicamp, Watson had "the inside track to be named the Browns QB," per Cabot.
The Browns are hoping to name their starter by June 11, per Cabot. That will give Sanders about five weeks to continue making his case to be the quarterback working with Jeudy, Concepcion and Boston next fall.
