The Browns officially broke ground on the new stadium on Thursday in Brook Park.
The new stadium will feature a capacity ranging from 67,500 attendees for NFL games and more than 70,000 for other events.
Notable features include a transparent glass roof and seats positioned closer to the field than in any other NFL stadium, according to the architecture firm HKS.
That includes a first row located 16 feet from the field, according to HKS.
The new stadium is being constructed alongside a new entertainment district, the first phase of which is set to open in 2029 alongside the stadium, according to the Browns.
The Browns will hope the new stadium will put Cleveland in the running to host major NFL events going forward.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said during Thursday's groundbreaking ceremony that the league looks forward to returning to Cleveland for a draft "soon," although he said more development in the area might be necessary before the city can host a Super Bowl.
"There's no doubt that this stadium is going to be Super Bowl quality. Zero doubt about that. I think the challenge now for this community... [are] airports, hotels," Goodell said.
The Browns could be hoping the development around the new stadium will help the city expand its hosting capacity should the franchise decide to seek a Super Bowl bid after the new venue opens in 2029.
