Cope & Cage Beat FTR for Tag Titles
Okada and Takeshita have long been stablemates within the Don Callis Family, but as time went on, they began to clash and their rivalry grew to the point where they could no longer co-exist.
The Continental Classic served as a catalyst for the problems between Takeshita and Okada, as they faced off in the semifinals of the tournament at Worlds End in December.
While the match was a highly entertaining, back-and-forth encounter, it was ultimately spoiled by Okada cheating to win by using a screwdriver.
From that point forward, the trust between Okada and Takeshita was gone, and it was blatantly obvious that Takeshita was looking to strike out on his own and get out of Okada's shadow.
However, Takeshita was compelled to team with Okada one last time at Dynasty last month due to Callis promising him a shot at Okada's international title if he did.
While Takeshita agreed, he essentially abandoned Okada during the bout, allowing The Young Bucks to pick up the victory.
When confronted about his actions later, Takeshita jokingly responded by saying, "Oops," which added even more heat to an already intense rivalry.
Takeshita looked to prove once and for all at Double or Nothing that he was at or even above Okada's level, and The Alpha did precisely that with an impressive victory over The Rainmaker.
