Kentucky Derby Field 2026, Entries List, Betting Lines and Picks

Joe TanseyApr 30, 2026

One of 20 horses will etch its name into history on Saturday in the 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby.

Renegade, Commandment and Further Ado entered the week as the top favorites to win. They are all still near the top of the odds board as the first leg of the Triple Crown nears.

A handful of other contenders will be in the mix as well, including So Happy and The Puma, both of whom have had their odds drop over the last few days.

Five horses currently have odds lower than 10-1 and a sixth sits right at the 10-1 mark.

The quality at the top of the Derby field likely means we won't see a long-shot winner on Saturday evening.

Five of the six horses in the 10-1 or lower category had over 100 qualifying points in the Race to the Kentucky Derby series. Commandment turned in the best set of results among that group.

Commandment comes into Churchill Downs on a four-race winning streak. All of those wins were spread out by at least a month. He'll be well rested for Saturday since his last race was March 28.

Commandment got a taste of the Derby field as well. He beat The Puma at the Florida Derby and Chief Wallabee at the Fountain of Youth Stakes. The Puma and Chief Wallabee are both in the 10-1 or lower collection of three-year-old thoroughbreds.

Further Ado's only loss in the last four races came against The Puma at the Tampa Bay Derby.

Renegade is on a two-race winning streak and last won at the Arkansas Derby in March.

So Happy, a horse whose odds have surged in recent days, has three wins and is coming off a victory at the Santa Anita Derby.

All of the other top horses have to prove they can beat Commandment in the form he's currently in.

One of the more competitive races in Derby history is expected, though, because the top end of the field carries such a strong set of results.
