Rams Reportedly Rejected 'Soft' Trade Offers from Lions, More NFL Teams Before Drafting Ty Simpson
The Los Angeles Rams surprised many when they selected quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th pick in the 2026 NFL draft, but it's becoming more and more clear that they were unwavering in their decision.
The Athletic's Nate Atkins spoke to a team source who revealed that the Rams received trade offers from teams around the NFL for the No. 13 pick, but they stayed put after the offers were deemed "soft."
Simpson was one of the most polarizing prospects in this year's draft class, with many projecting him to be a late first-round pick or to fall out of the first round altogether. B/R's Brent Sobleski graded the Rams' selection of Simpson a C.

New Report on Stafford's Contract Status
It's likely that Los Angeles still would've landed Simpson if it traded back in the first round, but Atkins detailed the thought process that led the team to remain in the No. 13 spot.
"The Detroit Lions had interest in moving up, a team source said, but the return didn't excite in a draft that thinned out considerably by Day 3 due to so many college players returning for name, image and likeness compensation," Atkins explained.
The Rams are hoping that Simpson will develop into their next franchise quarterback, so this could go down as the most pivotal draft pick that will shape the team's future.
