Caitlin Clark 4th-Year Contract Option Picked Up By Fever, How Much Will WNBA Star Make in 2027?

Timothy RappApr 28, 2026

The Indiana Fever announced Tuesday that it was picking up the fourth-year option for superstar guard Caitlin Clark, worth $597,596.

That makes Clark arguably the best bargain in professional sports, given her on-court impact and off-court marketability.

This season, Clark will make $528,846. Pretty tough to beat that salary for the organization, given the franchise's valuation has reportedly quadrupled since she was drafted and Harvard economics lecturer Judd Cramer told The Athletic in 2025 that Clark is potentially worth 1,000 times her salary to the Fever.

The 2025 season was largely a lost one for Clark due to quadriceps and groin injuries. She was limited to just 13 games, though the Fever still managed to reach the playoffs.

There was no doubt that she took the WNBA by storm as a rookie in 2024, however, averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while ending a seven-year playoff drought for the Fever.

On Saturday, she returned to a WNBA court for the first time since July, putting up seven points, four assists and three rebounds across 17 minutes during a preseason win over the New York Liberty.

"I think anytime you get to put on your uniform and lace up your shoes, you don't take that for granted, especially having come off of last year. I didn't really get to do that very much," she told reporters. "So I think for me, coming into this game, just a lot of excitement, not a ton of nerves, just like, get out there, run around... everybody's just trying to get their footing again, same goes for me too."

It wasn't the cleanest performance, as Clark shot just 2-of-10 from the field, though she didn't turn the ball over, which was one of her few struggles during her rookie season.

"I thought she was good," Fever coach Stephanie White added. "We play differently when she's on the floor. And so [we are] learning how to play with her in the action. I thought she didn't force anything. She played with great intention, and everything that she did was in the flow. She was communicating at a high level. If we're talking about the shot-making, that's going to come. They play her differently in the [WNBA] than they do in international basketball, and so we've just got to find ways to free her up to get her some easy looks."

The Fever—and the WNBA—are better off with Clark on the court.
