New NFL Rumors on Kayvon Thibodeaux Trade Talks, Giants' Asking Price from Saints During Draft
The New York Giants had discussions with the New Orleans Saints about trading them edge-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, but the two sides weren't particularly close on a deal, per Dan Duggan of The Athletic.
"The Saints were the team most interested in trading for Thibodeaux, however, according to a league source. The problem was the sides weren't close on potential compensation. The Saints' best offer is believed to have been a fourth-round pick (No. 132), while the Giants were seeking a second-round pick — the Saints had the 42nd selection."

Rams' Plans for Pick No. 13
The Saints did add another pass-rusher during the draft, acquiring Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Tyree Wilson and a 2026 seventh-round pick for a 2026 fifth-rounder (No. 150).
Thibodeaux is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He played just 10 games in 2025, amassing two-and-a-half sacks, nine quarterback hits and 25 tackles. A shoulder injury ultimately led to him missing the final seven games.
Thibodeaux has certainly flashed the potential that led to the Giants selecting him fifth overall in the 2022 NFL draft. He made some big plays in his rookie year, particularly a strip sack of Washington Commanders quarterback Taylor Heinecke and ensuing touchdown in a 20-12 road win late in the season. Thibodeaux also had 11.5 sacks in 2023.
The sack numbers have fallen, but Thibodeaux did have 17 quarterback hits in just 12 games in 2024.
The 2025 season was a down year, and one can wonder whether his time with the team might be running out, especially since the team seems well-set with players who can get after the quarterback in Brian Burns, Abdul Carter and now Arvell Reese.
As of now, though, Thibodeaux is a Giant in a contract year. There isn't evidence to suggest a trade is forthcoming after the Saints rumors have been put to bed, so it appears Thibodeaux could be playing out his deal, hoping for a good contract year and hitting free agency in 2026.
