Saturday's clash was a long time coming, as Breakker shockingly attacked Rollins back in October after The Visionary suffered a shoulder injury during a win over Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel.

On the following episode of Raw, Rollins cut a promo with Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman alongside him. However, Breakker surprised everyone when he hit Rollins with a massive spear, effectively kicking him out of The Vision in the process.

Reed joined in, and Heyman pledged his allegiance to Breakker and Reed, changing the face of the stable Rollins started in the first place.

All signs pointed toward a match between Breakker and Rollins at WrestleMania 42 if Rollins recovered from his injury in time. But while waiting for Rollins to return, Breakker got injured as well.

Rollins made his official return at Elimination Chamber by costing Vision-member Logan Paul the match, and he made it his stated goal to get retribution against Heyman and the rest of The Vision.

However, just a couple of weeks before WrestleMania, Gunther saved Heyman from an attack at the hands of Rollins in exchange for a favor.

That led to Rollins against Gunther at WrestleMania, and The Ring General was victorious thanks largely to the return of Breakker, who hit Rollins with multiple spears.

With Breakker costing Rollins months of his career, as well as a match against Gunther on The Grandest Stage of Them All, it came as little surprise when their highly anticipated bout was made official for Backlash.

Given that Rollins failed to get the revenge he so desperately wanted, it seems likely that his feud with Breakker is far from over.
