Emmitt Smith's Son E.J. Signs Chiefs UDFA Contract After Visiting Cowboys Before 2026 NFL Draft
Former Texas A&M running back E.J. Smith, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent.
Smith worked out for the team where his father became one of the best running backs in NFL history, the Dallas Cowboys, before the draft.
"Very cool," head coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters at the time. "You know me, man, I'm family. I'm all family. And you watch his film and he was an incredible short-yardage runner, powerful. But, yeah, just watching him move, seeing him in person, the type of young man he is, it's cool."
Smith, 23, rushed for 969 yards and nine touchdowns in a college career that spanned six seasons. He was not among the top-300 players on the B/R NFL Scouting Department's final big board.
